Shoji Yamaguchi, the master confectioner of Kyoto Suetomi, will be
giving a live demonstration of wagashi
(Japanese confections) making.
Established in 1893, Suetomi has been one of the most respected confectioners
in Kyoto.
They create wagashi of the highest grade for Japanese tea ceremony.
Their wagashi is unique, elaborately beautiful, and very popular not
only in Kyoto, but throughout Japan.

Thursday, March 24 thru Sunday, March 27
There will be an exhibition as well the sale of seasonal confections
from Kyoto Suetomi here at Kajitsu.
We will also be open for lunch service.
Lunch will be served on a first come, first serve basis since there
is limited seating.
The menu will be a la carte and only 20 servings will be available
each day, so please get here early!! |

"Kyogen Performance
by Ippei Shigeyama"

Ippei Shigeyama will be performing “Komai”, a short dance performance
as well as “Utai”, a vocal performance from Kyogen play.
Ippei Shigeyama is a Kyogen actor from Okura School, Shige-yama family.
Kyogen is a form of traditional Japanese theater developed along with
Noh in the 14th century. Okura, the oldest existing
Kyogen family has been around for over 400 years. |
